US Made Merry Tiller

1972 British Merry Tiller Major

Merry Tillers were designed in Washington USA by Clayton Merry in 1947. The company he founded has undergone several changes of ownership, but the US product has changed little since the early 1960's, a testament to the "rightness" of the original.

In the UK the Merry Tiller was produced by the Wolseley company until the 1980s when a change of company policy led to the manufacturing side of the business being sold off to Atco. Over the years the design had changed, making it more expensive to produce. This, coupled with changes of Atco's ownership and increased competition, led to the end of production in the UK.
